the National Pro-Life Oratory Contest In
September 1983, America’s high school freshmen became the first class of high
school students to survive a society with legal human abortion.
Roe v Wade, the supreme court case that authorized the unrestricted
killing of babies in the womb, was a drastic departure from America’s
foundational beliefs and legal traditions that had long reflected a
constitutional right-to-life for all human beings, regardless of condition or
stage of biological development. Responding
to this judicial assault upon the most helpless and vulnerable among us, the
National Pro-Life Oratory Competition was instituted. The
competition was intended to challenge high school students across America to
explore and formulate the moral and philosophical reasons why a fair and just
society must respect all human life. Over
the years, each contestant, building upon the accomplishments of their
predecessors, has helped to inform the Nation’s collective conscience, slowly
moving it in the direction of respecting all human life, born and unborn. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "What
the world needs is a voice that is right, not when the world is right, but a
voice that is right when the world is wrong." Bishop Fulton Sheen ____________________________________________________________________________________ **
